Today marks the 1st National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We reflect on one of the most painful parts of Canadian history.

Today, we honor and remember the children who never made it back home. We listen to the survivors of residential schools and commemorate the harrowing past and its continuous impacts. We are in solidarity with the families and communities affected by this system.

As the Nunavut governing body responsible for regulating the legal profession in the public interest, the Law Society of Nunavut has taken several initiatives to make justice more accessible to Nunavummiut. We are dedicated to responding to the legal needs of the communities through our Access to Justice Projects. In response to the TRC Call to Action 27, the LSN is committed to ensuring that its members receive continuous appropriate cultural competency training.
