International Inuit Day (November 7th) celebrates the rich diversity and contributions of Inuit cultures and serves to amplify Inuit voices across the globe.
The LSN invites its members and friends to mark this day with us by reading, listening to, sitting with, and learning from Inuit across the Circumpolar North.
Whether you are looking to expand your knowledge and understanding, or continue a longtime learning journey, we hope this list of resources serves as a starting point for engagement and conversation:
- Inuit Nunangat Taimannganit – Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami’s (ITK) storytelling project that tells the story of the Inuit homeland in the place called Canada from time immemorial.
- The Qikiqtani Truth Commission’s Key Findings, Thematic Reports and Special Studies, and Final Report (also available in video format).
- The Nunavut Day Cookbook (2021) – compiled by Nunavut Tunngavik (NTI) from recipes submitted by home cooks across Nunavut (available in English, Inuktitut and Inuinnaqtun).
- Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit: What Inuit Have Always Known to Be True – edited by Joe Karetak, Frank Tester, and Shirley Tagalik.
