The Law Society of Nunavut is seeking a public representative to join its Executive Committee to bring a voice from the perspective of the community to issues affecting the justice system and the delivery of legal services in Nunavut. The LSN is the regulatory body that governs practicing lawyers in Nunavut and is primarily responsible for the protection of the public interest in the administration of justice by ensuring that the public is served by a legal profession that is honorable, competent, and independent.
The successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity to play a key role in the LSN’s development and on projects and initiatives related to issues of access to justice, conflicts of interest, collaborative processes, equity and diversity, and governance. As a public representative, you will attend monthly meetings (generally), occasional special meetings and national meetings.
Preference will be given to those with a variety of life and work experiences relevant to the position.
